Happy New Year pals! I hope you’ve all had a fun festive season and are easing into 2025 well.
I’m back with a post to accompany my latest reel/TikTok on layering when it’s bloody freezing outside. Having just got back from New York where it was -6º, to a ‘cold burst’ in London - here’s how I manage to go out and about looking vaguely chic and stay warm.
My first and biggest tip is THERMALS. I am a diehard Uniqlo thermal fan, they now do different degrees of ‘cold’ too, so depending on the temperatures you can go thicker. I like to wear the scoop neck tops and leggings under my usual outfit. The scoop neck works great as it keeps you cosy but isn’t visible under a jumper.
My next tip is another Uniqlo purchase and it’s this layer. I think this is such a great hidden layer for days when it’s really cold. I pop this under my coat and it just kind of locks the warmth in around you.
I also stick to wool or cashmere for my knit later. Natural fibres are best for keeping you warm and trapping in the heat, plus they’re naturally breathable which helps when you’re five layers deep and hyperventilating in Boots.
So, my layers go as follows: bra > thermal top/thermal leggings > normal t-shirt > knit layer (wool or cashmere) > lightweight vest > wool coat.
Ta-da! Warm and cosy.
